The NIKE WMNS AIR MAX 97 CAMO finds the streamlined masterpiece revised and dressed for the streets. We took a pair out on urban safari to see how they performed…
The Nike Air Max 97 was a unique and exciting release when it first dropped two decades ago. Christian Tresser’s design was partly inspired by Japan’s high-speed Bullet trains, but also by mountain bike components. At the time, many bikes featured metal on metal finishes, such as aluminium and polished titanium, which you’ll see references to on the original silver Air Max 97. But whilst the 97 looked great in the initial silver edition, we’ve seen the shoe return again and again in eye-catching colourways, proving that there was much more to the 97 than just its metallic theme. This latest camo women’s edition shows off the shape of the shoe perfectly, whilst adding a clean, contemporary application of camouflage to the mix. With tan, off-white and grey details scattered throughout the uppers, it’s a smart update to one of our favourite models in the running shoe history books.
