With the forthcoming cold season fast approaching, the British streetwear gods have returned with a platoon full of pastel-flavoured militaria in the form of themaharishi AW17 collection. Turning to the mountainous regions of the east for inspiration, the latest offering celebrates the world’s indigenous populations that reside there and beyond, incorporating elements of their traditional dress into the collection’s detailing and design. 18th century Japanese Hokkaido and the 1960’s Vietnamese Central Highlands are two key touch points for the ranges aesthetic, which is tied together through a concise use of colour. Indispensable military hues including ‘Ghost Blue’ and ‘Coyote Brown’ sit alongside the imprint’s infamous olive and desert khaki shades, as well as an innovative new seasonal camouflage print that mimics hand spray painting and signature maharishi embroidery, which appears across a slew of cosy boy sweats as well as classic military silhouettes.
