Dropping in Obsidian and Off White colourways, the NIKELAB BLAZER ADVANCED will offer fans of theĀ streamlined, minimalist hi-top two new fresh and understated styles to choose from.
While the silhouette dates all the way back to 1973, a time of highly questionable fashion trends (think brightly-coloured polyester outfits, chunky sideburns and platform shoes), the team at NikeLab has been busy bringing the look into the 21st Century. More than 40 years from the shoe’s genesis in the early ’70s and we now have a laceless, zippered basketball shoe with the zip placed off center, making for a sleek, asymmetrical look. The upper is clad in luxurious leather and features aĀ perforated tongue, nubuck lining, and embossed heel branding, while the white rubber sole is made from a textured and vulcanized rubber. The whiteness of the sole pops againstĀ theĀ Off White and Obsidian Black uppers.
Back in the day, the Blazer was originally worn by basketballĀ star George āThe Icemanā Gervin who was known for his āice cold dunksā. It was one of the early silhouettes to don the now-iconic Swoosh and the name āBlazerā was takenĀ from the Portland Trail Blazers, who hail from Nikeās hometown. Fast forward to today and we have a hi-top that pays its respects to the past but is very much a shoe for contemporary tastes.
TheĀ NIKELAB BLAZER ADVANCEDĀ in Obsidian and Off White will drop on FRIDAY 27 JANUARY: keep checking back for the latest details. In the meantime, you can shop the latest selection at NIKELAB via the banner below.
